Need to be inspired to start that new web app?

If you are like most web hacks you have, at some point in time, seriously pined away at the notion of starting your own web services/app. We all do it... as we sit and toil away our productive years making our clients richer with our best and brightest ideas... well I would say if this sounds familiar wake the hell up! No matter what you are doing or where you work there has never been a better and more accessible moment to jump into a web app/service based effort than right now. With all the tools, OSS, and community around these ventures you have got to take a shot.. so take one night a week away from Battlestar Gallactica re-runs and fire up the creative juices.

This video from David Heinemeier Hanson has got to be one of the most inspiring talks I have seen for pointing directly to the fact that a "small" web app business for most of us would generate enough revenue to more than satisfy the wonkiest of techno-geeks needs and yet doesn't need to be purchased for $10 gazzilion to do it. Most businesses dream of the level of success that web startups and VC firms consider failures or just not worth the time.

But Hanson says this all way better than me so just sit back and watch and I will stop yacking...
