This project was a full custom drupal build with a pre-existing photoshop design file. My role as a sub-contractor on this project was to work directly with the client form start to finish and aid in visioning the possibilities of the site while gathering requirements, designing functional specs, creating mockups, prototyping functional modules in development drupal site, training staff in drupal content publishing and finally installing and building full site and creating custom theme from existing design.
I worked as a sub-contractor on this project for UpThought Inc. and their client the Massachusetts Bible Society. I also sub-contracted an artist to create the original hand draw artwork on the front page to meet client request. I then created the simple flash piece from the artwork as specified by client.
PandoNetworks.com was a custom Drupal site project. My role was to build the site in Drupal and take an existing Photoshop design mockup from staff designer and make a pixel exact theme and functional site. This was a successful project meeting and exceeding all requirements set forth in the project proposal.
Pando was an interesting project which involved creating a new design and theme for an existing high traffic Drupal site that could then work as a skin for various other applications. This was a successful project enabling a tighter integration of Pando's client services and greater flexibility for content and ad generation.
The United Way of Sonoma Medocino Lake was a custom drupal project. In collaboration with BeneficTech I was contracted to design and build the site from the ground up. Charged with all planning, design, theming, drupal configuration, customization, training, etc. to bring this project to fruition. Project ended with high client satisfaction and target goals met.
This project was a full custom drupal build where I wore all hats and created the project with the client from start to finish. All site architecture, design, planning, training, customozation, installation, configuration, coding, themeing, etc were my responsibilities.
Google calendar integration, Google Apps, YouTube video, etc were used to achieve client goals.
This client had various needs for publishing Video, large photo albums, and a deep event calendaras well as community news, event details in PDF format, and continually editing and upfdating site web pages. The practical decision was made to use existing services and integrate their use with the core drupal site giving the client the ability to add their own content in a variety of formats and areas without weighing down the drupal installation with custom modules.
YouTube video, Flickr photo galleries, and Google calendars have been leveraged to provide robust services with minimal to no costs to the client.
The next phase of development will include a round of revisions to site functionality as well as adding an online store and continuing to expand content offered.
Williams Music College was a custom Drupal site project enabling the school staff to create and publish a wide array of custom content types including news, events, podcasts, courses, faculty profiles, alumni, etc... This project also required a color coded design by section with matching color coded menus. This was all accomplished through a custom theme. I worked as a sub-contractor on this project for UpThought Inc. and their client the Williams Music College.
The Official website of the Baha'is of the United States Project (THIS SITE HAS SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED AND IS NO LONGER MY WORK ON THE LIVE SITE) involved many powerful aspects of web development. I personally designed, developed, and implemented this project from start to finish.
Features utilizing open source software (OSS), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), web metrics with Google Analytics, streaming Flash video through Akamai's global network, and podcasting have brought this web presence fully up to date set the stage for continued expansion.
With ever increasing costs of software licenses and user fees we set out to make a statement with this project and show that through the use of open source software projects such as Drupal.org we could build a powerful web presence the would rank at the top of the search engines and deliver a wealth of features without all the added expense of commercial software packages like Vignette, Ektron, Sharepoint, and the likes. This also enabled the client to share all the technology that we developed with other institutions in this global religion. This solution used the LAMP stack of Linux - Apache - mySQL - PHP which are all open source projects in thier own rights.
It was a goal from the beginning of this project to have the site rank as #2 in the search engines on the terms bahai - bahai faith - baha'i - baha'i faith - bahai temple. In the course of 6 months the site has risen to this #2 two postition just below the Baha'i World site which should rank as #1. This came about through careful planning and implementing SEO strategies as taught by one the leading SEO practitioners in the business.
At the launch of this project Google serendipitously launched Google Analytics as a free service to existing beta customers. We were able to incorporate this powerful metrics tool from day one of the site launch and how found the results to be astounding with global traffic averaging 800 unique visitors a day from 150 countries per week.
We setup a flash streaming video account with Akamai who is the industry leader in streaming video. This enabled us to begin integrating elements of Flash content with streaming video embededd. We were also able to obtain definitive statistics for analysis of traffic patterns and video usage.
To date the site have been featured in Enlightenment Magazine, Seattle Tribune, Chicago Tribune, and other major newspapers as well as winning an award for Excellence from the Religious Communicators Counsel.
